Memorial Day was originally called ‘Decoration Day’ and was established as a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. Memorial Day was first observed on 30 May 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of both Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. It is a date of remembrance, honor and reconciliation. For many who have recently lost loved ones who served and gave their all for what they believed in, it can be a day of grieving over the fresh pangs of loss of their father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, friend, comrade or loved one.
Memorial Day is now celebrated in almost every state on the last Monday in May (passed by Congress with the National Holiday Act of 1971 (P.L. 90 – 363) to ensure a three day weekend for Federal holidays). For many this is most of what this holiday represents to them: a 3-day break from work or school to plan a vacation around.
Red Poppies began to be used as a symbol to wear in of honor those who had died in war or in service after Moina Michael wrote in 1919 the verse:
“We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.” (more…)
The Shift Doctors (Marion Ross & Tracy Latz) are thrilled to have Michael Borkin, NMD post as a guest blogger here at Shift Your Life®. Dr. Michael Borkin, NMD is a pioneer in hormone and electrolyte research and is considered to be the “Father of Naturopathic Endocrinology”. He specializes in hormone and electrolyte testing and balancing. He is also one of the creators of the science of bio-identical hormones and transdermal (through the skin) creams. Unique creams are created for each patient to restore hormonal homeostasis. The creams are made up of hormones, hormone precursors, nutrients, homeopathics, herbs and electrolytes. Specific electrolyte and nutrient rich supplements help balance each patient’s bio-chemistry in all their cells, including the brain. Some of the most famous actors, stars and athletes are his patients. They keep his name as a jealously guarded secret so he will personally have time to work with them. They want to take advantage of his knowledge and research so he can create and monitor their special balancing programs. They are desperate to look younger, have more energy, feel their best and perform at optimal levels.
What Did I Eat?! by I. Michael Borkin, NMD
How many times have you asked yourself, “What did I eat?” No matter how healthy we try to be, we just can’t seem to find real food. I thought I was blessed because as a child I grew up in a household that did not contain sodas or Coco Puffs. However, even the fruits and vegetables we consumed had been sprayed with pesticides such as DDT. In retrospect we realize that not only were we eating poison, but that we had no concept of how it was going to someday poison our children and their children’s children. Recent studies from research dating back to 2005 indicate that what our Great-Great-Great Grandparents were exposed to is even still now active in our bodies causing dysfunction and disease.
The fact is that we been unaware that what we expose ourselves to can have transgenerational ramifications. Until recently we didn’t realize that when the first generation eats a GMO, it can affect as many as five subsequent generations. “Ignorance is bliss” is no longer the acceptable status quo. It is time that we wake up and realize that if we don’t address this issue now, many generations will be affected. When it comes to finding food, if we go back in 90,000+ years time, to the origin of our modern human body, we were nomads and our diet was a reflection of the environment in which we lived. We didn’t have a specific diet, we didn’t cultivate and never had an idea that we even could. Man was dynamic, moving from one place to the next based on several factors. The prevalence of food in a survivable and ideally congenial climate, a desire to find a “greener pasture,” and a lack of plumbing, kept us on the move.
Today our food travels further than we do and is subject to continual assaults from a variety of sources: pathogenic bacteria, pesticides and fumigation and, more recently, the advent of hybridizing staples with Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), which are now ubiquitous in food products. Corn’s DNA now contains a gene from soil bacteria called Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) that produces the Bt-toxin. It’s a pesticide that ruptures the stomach of certain insects and kills them.
The Bt-toxin is believed to be completely destroyed in the human digestive system. However, new research confirms just the opposite. Doctors at Sherbrooke University Hospital in Quebec found the corn’s Bt-toxin in the blood of pregnant women and their babies, as well as in non-pregnant women. (Specifically, the toxin was identified in 93% of 30 pregnant women, 80% of umbilical blood in their babies, and 67% of 39 non-pregnant women.) Additional studies have identified the BT toxin to be a danger not only to the first generation that consumes it, but also subsequent generations. (more…)

He that is not jealous is not in love. -St. Augustine
The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves. -William Penn
What is jealousy? Is it the tie that binds or the wedge that drives us apart? What purpose does it serve in our lives and relationships? What drives us to become jealous? Is jealousy envy? Can jealousy be like a cloud with a silver lining?
Jealousy is a reactive state that conveys the negative internal chatter and emotions of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. Jealousy often consists of a combination of fear-based emotions such as anger, resentment, abandonment, rejection, grief, and disgust… just to name a few. Envy, on the other hand, is a reactive state of discontent and resentment fueled by and linked with a desire for obtaining the (more…)
The Shift Doctors interview with Dr.Glen Rein at the Water Conference in Bulgaria discusses the consciousness of water and cells and the scientific effects of intention on cells. Dr. Tracy Latz questions Dr. Rein about the meaning of his research for humans and daily effects of our own consciousness on our cells.
Dr. Rein is a biochemist and expert researcher in subtle energy and consciousness . His research led to changes in the physical structure of water with EM fields, thus changing its physical properties and allowing for its application to produce novel, enhanced effects in products for the skin-care industry. For the past 25 years he has pursued an academic career in traditional biomedical research at prestigious institutions such as Harvard and Stanford Medical Schools, where he studied neuroscience, immunology, psychoneuroimmunology and bioelectromagnetics. His bioelectromagnetics research culminated with an assistant professorship at Mt. Sinai Medical school and a publication in the prestigious journal Nature.
Dr. Tracy Latz is a physician, cell biologist and metaphysician. Dr. Marion Ross is a transpersonal psychologist and metaphysician. The ‘Shift Doctors’ love “Giving You the Keys to Shift Your Life” by bringing forth technologies and information to the public. Find out more at www.ShiftYourLife.com
Holidays, even in the best of circumstances, can be stressful due to family, work, school, and cultural expectations and responsibilities. A daily practice can pave the way to keeping you compassionately connected to your self, others and whatever Higher Power you understand or recognize. A daily practice can also reduce stress or anxiety and keep you focused on your journey to shift and transform even in the midst of stressful holiday encounters.
In order to depersonalize the daily stress, negative emotions, and thoughts that we encounter daily, we need to have a regular routine that keeps us balanced in body, mind and spirit. Various cultures approach this dilemma in many different ways using a daily centering practice called Dharma. This (more…)
