Shift into Heart to De-Stress with Quick Coherence Techniques

By Shift Doctors · Comments (1)

Treasures-of-the-heart2-300x225Our friends at HeartMath have described a wonderful technique to rapidly get into your heart. The Quick Coherence® Technique ( a heart math trademark) helps you create a coherent state, offering access to your heart’s intelligence. It uses the power of your heart to balance thoughts and emotions, helping you to achieve a neutral, poised state for clear thinking. It is a powerful technique that connects you with your energetic heart zone to help you release stress, balance your emotions and feel better fast.

Quick Coherence® will help you find a feeling of ease and inner harmony that will be reflected in your heart rhythms. The heart is a primary generator of rhythm in your body, influencing brain processes that control your nervous system, cognitive function and emotion. More coherent heart rhythms facilitate brain function, allowing you more access to your higher intelligence so you can improve your focus, creativity, intuition and higher-level decision-making. When you’re in heart-rhythm coherence, you perform at your best – what athletes call being in the zone. You feel confident, positive, focused and calm yet energized. Read More→

Tips for Dealing With Empty Nest Syndrome

By Tracy Latz · Comments (0)
Monday, August 13th, 2012

If we have done our job properly in raising our children, each child should eventually one day fly from the nest and out into the world to create wondrous independent lives, relationships and experiences of their own. While it is easy to understand this intellectually and logically, it is a bittersweet moment in the lives of parent and child alike. At the moment that a child leaves for college or moves away from home due to job or marriage/relationship, something irrevocably energetically changes in the parent-child relationship. The young vulnerable prince or princess that was born into your life is now a self-sufficient young adult with talents and gifts to share out in the world as they learn more about who they are through their relationships with others away from parental influence. Yes, things will never be the same… for child or parent.

When a child leaves home for college or other reasons, it is natural for parents to experience a mixture of emotions: pride at their child’s accomplishments, anxiety over their child’s safety in the world at large, joy and wonder to see their child spread their wings to fly, sadness over a sense of loss of nearness of a loved one, and occasional overwhelming rushes of bittersweet emotions as you reminisce over your child’s major milestones in life (birth, learning to walk, first day in kindergarten, learning to ride a bike, birthday celebrations, accomplishments, graduations, etc).

Young adults also have their own mix of emotions over making the transition from home to college or self-sufficiency. It is common for children leaving home to experience excitement over anticipated new experiences and friendships, fear of possible failure, angst over being away from parents who have been their in support of them emotionally and financially, sadness over distance from and loss of siblings/friends/significant others, and thirst/desire for knowledge or expanding their talents/gifts.

What can be done to ease the transition for both parent, young adult and siblings as the nest becomes less crowded?

Happy Mother’s Day and some TIPS to Shift!

Happy Mother’s Day!
Spring is a wonderful time for Shifting consciousness!  Remember to remain connected to your True Essence by finding and doing activities that allow you to center and re-balance daily.
When we allow our self to connect with the Bright Light that is within us (our True Essence), we actually become more beautiful and radiant outside as well!!  We spend so much time and effort daily attempting to restore our physical beauty.  How much do we spend on beauty products a month to combat aging?
Try these inner AND outer beauty techniques… they REALLY WORK!
1.  Get aerobic exercise at least 3 hours a week to increase blood flow.
2.  Go to bed earlier. A good night’s sleep allows you to restore your neurotransmitters, your endocrine system and actually improves memory functions.
3.  Drink plenty of water to allow your energy to flow through your body as well as to release the toxins that builds up in your system daily from within and without.
4.  Eat dark chocolate. Wow!  It turns out that the University of Copenhagen researchers say that Read More→

Meditation at the Full Moon – A Time to Shift for Everyone

By Shift Doctors · Comments (1)
Saturday, May 5th, 2012

Throughout civilization many religious festivals have been held in conjunction with the full moon. What person has not at some point stood in reverence and awe of the moon’s reflected Light coming to us indirectly from the sun? The moon represents the unconscious, invisible, yin or feminine aspect. The sun represents the conscious, visible, yang or masculine aspect. Although spiritual inspiration is available to us at any time, it is more actively present to us during the full moon period because of the alignment set up between our planet and the sun. Because of this alignment, meditations done at this “power point” of the spiritual month tend to be more fruitful – yielding increased clarity in communication.

The full moon period is actually a 5 to 6 day period- the two to three preceding days, the day of the full moon itself, and the 2 to 3 succeeding days. The 2 days prior to the full moon is best spent in preparation to let go of that which is tethering you to negative situations, people or circumstances. During the day of the full moon (and in particular at the exact moment when the moon is full), one attempts to stand in spiritual being – acting as silent open channels in alignment with hierarchical intent, focusing thoughts/intentions upon the need of humanity and the planet. The 2-3 days after the exact full moon are days of distribution of the energies received during the full moon – which according to Alice Bailey are “shed abroad in our hearts, through our group and throughout the world.”

There are three major spiritual Festivals celebrated at the time of Full Moons which form the high point in the annual cycle. These are the Festival of Easter (at the Aries full moon), the Festival of Wesak (at the Taurus full moon), and Christ’s Festival or the Festival of Goodwill (at the Gemini Read More→

How To Find Your Passion & Purpose

By Shift Doctors · Comments (2)
Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

The Shift Doctors (Marion Ross, Ph.D. and Tracy Latz, M.D.) have taught classes and seminars in personal transformation since 2002. They have come together to assist people with transforming anger/resentment, guilt/shame, disappointment/heartache, stress, fear/anxiety, lack of self-love, & grief/loss, and then reacquaint people with their True Essence (who they really are)- which is essential to understanding what holds each of us back and causes us to feel stuck in our lives, circumstances, relationships and career paths. They also teach courses in Reiki, Color and Sound Healing, Energy Psychology, Energy Medicine, Meditation and other Metaphysical Topics.

How To Find Your Passion/ Purpose

Wouldn’t you just love to jump out of bed every morning filled with fire and enthusiasm for something? Perhaps you have been searching for that something for years or have just settled for a more mundane life out of not knowing any better way. Perhaps you feel that you have too many responsibilities to change course, or that you don’t deserve anything greater or have a fear of the unknown. Finding & Following your passion can be a difficult journey but consider it a journey not an instant revelation

Consider taking an expedition into your past for starters. What life plan got you to where you are now? Did you even consciously have a plan? Were you driven by the desire to be a dad, mom, nurse, doctor, plumber, Indian chief, accountant because it was lucrative or ‘Cool’, to impress your family or friends, perhaps to pay the bills or was it something you really wanted to do?  Did you choose a life of hiding your talents and brains so people wouldn’t expect too much of you? Were you afraid of success or did you have a fear of success or failure? What choices did you make that led you to your current job, personal /family situation, hobbies, what you do in your downtime, etc..  Take some time to evaluate how you got where you are now so you can understand how you have been creating your life. Bipolar Disorder: Just Another Manic Monday? How to Tell if You or A Loved One Has Mania

By Tracy Latz · Comments (0)
Sunday, March 4th, 2012

Is There Such a Thing as ‘Manic Season’?

Many of my patients who have been diagnosed in the past with Bipolar Disorder have heard me ask them during their visits with me in the early spring season: “How has your mood been? You know we are now in ‘Manic Season’.”

Mania can actually occur any time of the year if one is given the “perfect storm” of situational stress or sleep deprivation. However, just as depression can often be more prevalent in the darker months of late fall and winter, mania too is often associated with the season of spring with the rapidly increasing length of daylight hours. The decrease in exposure to daylight in the fall/winter months can lead to a decrease in the production of neurotransmitters serotonin and/or dopamine for many sensitive people which can in turn be experienced as depression or anxiety- also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (see our post on SAD).

The increase in exposure to sunlight in the spring (from about March 1st until about the end of May) can lead to an increase in the production of serotonin and/or dopamine in some sensitive Read More→
